Held Hostage on Margarit Island

An island with a sad history. Poor Princess Margarit was exiled to this island to live in a convent. Today the island is only for recreational use, boasting several gardens, a running track, a bathhouse, a hotel and restaurants. Though it is small, it is right in the middle of the Danube and offers spectacular views of both Buda and Pest. You can rent a bicycle or another fun vehicle to pedal around the island. I took a boat there and decided to walk back, the island is easily accessible and can be reached on foot as well as tram or boat.
